Korean (한국어) → English scanner

Scan and translate Korean to English
without flattening the page into plain text

A Korean 등본 is a grid of short fields with a red 도장 in the corner — and on older records the names are still written in Hanja.

Reglyph reads the Hangul syllable blocks as blocks, not as the jamo they are built from, so a family relation certificate or a resident registration copy keeps its rows and columns when the English is set back in. Where a name or a title appears in Hanja, it is read as Korean rather than mistaken for Chinese, and the seal that makes the copy official is part of the page image and never moves.

Scanning Korean documents — frequently asked

Already have a digital Korean PDF rather than a scan? Korean → English document translation

Can I scan a Korean certificate and translate it to English?

Yes. Scan or photograph it, save as a PDF, and upload. The document scanner built into iPhone (Files) and Android (Google Drive) corrects the perspective and outputs PDF directly, which is all Reglyph needs — no separate OCR pass.

How are names handled? Korean romanization varies.

Names are romanized consistently across the whole document, so the same person is spelled the same way in every field. If you need a specific official spelling — the one on a passport — note it and keep it consistent when the translation is certified; the translation gives you a clean, consistent base to do that from.

Does it cope with Hanja on older documents and the 도장 seal?

Yes. Hanja on family registers and older diplomas is read in context as Korean and translated accordingly rather than as a Chinese passage. The red 도장 or 인감 seal is part of the scanned image, so it stays exactly where it was stamped, including where it overlaps text.
